Texas Weapons System Rail for AK
Does anyone out there have one of these on an AK they own? Would like to hear what you have to say about it. Thinking about buying one for the AK.

Also, they offer a peep sight, but I was wondering if I could put my own sight on it, something like what an AR has on it, with the flip sight offering two different aperture holes, and, that folds down when not in use.
Thanks in advance for the response. The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

All the AK users out there, and not one of you have tried this thing out yet. It is on backorder everywhere. So, it is either popular or maybe they don't make very many at a time.

Re: Texas Weapons System Rail for AK
It's something that I would want when I grab an ak, though would be concerned about it fitting properly due to individual variances in different AKs. But I read in the description that it allows fitting to the users individual weapon. So I think I'd be interested, there are a few other similar top cover rails I would compare first though

Re: Texas Weapons System Rail for AK
I have the Parabellum Armaments AKARS and like it. Seems a bit sturdier than the Texas one in regards to how to interfaces with the leaf sight hinge and has three points of contact overall to retain zero on your optics.
However, on either the Parabellum or Texas system you can't use a flip up right - the rear sight would be way to high to line up with the front sight.

Pics to make this thread more interesting.
The parabellum rail was the other one I saw.
With both being over $100 I really would want to know it would fit correctly before buying it but what can you do. The tws has an option for yugo AKs which I am probably going to have, does the parabellum fit Yugos?-=pardon me while I burn and rise above the flames=-

I have one on my WASR with the Bushnell TRS 25 red dot. No complaints works great and not very hard to install.

Went with the parabellum
Locks up very solid. No movement.
Did have to grind a bit off for my safety to go up. Took me about one minute with a dremel.

Re: Texas Weapons System Rail for AK
I had a TWS on my Saiga 7.62x39. It was great. Locked up tight and the peep was really nice. I had an Eotech on it so obviously it did not co-witness, but when using just irons, it was great and dead on steel at 100 yds.
Another option I had on the Saiga 5.45 was the RS Products AKM mount and used a Strikefire (pretty much any Aimpoint or Clone would work). It co-witnessed with the leaf sight perfectly and cost about the same as the TWS without the peep. I no longer have any AKs, but still have the RS Mount.
