Does Ben Carson REALLY Get The Purpose Of The Second Amendment?

Dr. Ben Carson is exploring his future in politics, and is certainly teasing that he might be considering a 2016 Presidential run as a Republican primary candidate. He’s worried some with his comments earlier this year, where he suggested that gun laws might be applied differently in rural areas than in urban areas.

He hasn’t backed off that statement, but he seems to understand the broader purpose of the Second Amendment and isn’t afraid to mention it, which is a relative rarity for a modern politician in either party.

If he thinks that the second amendment should apply differently to different places, then no, he does not understand the broader purpose of the second amendment. At all.

On the other hand, "applied" could be a misuse of the word when enforced would be more accurate. Law Enforcement in rural areas may be less likely to enforce laws to the letter as opposed to urban areas.

We have seen that in rural areas of N.Y. and CO. where sheriffs have been luke warm at best regarding the strict enforcement of the newly minted laws in those states. And of course, in our own Philadelphia where laws are "enforced" that do not exist.

He speaks the words of getting why it exists but I still don't get a sense of SOLID commitment. I think he will do no more than tow the conservative line on the 2nd but I don't get the impression he believes it the way WE do.

I am also taken aback by the "Common Sense" line. I now look at that as a Liberal/Progressive "tag line" or "buzz word" and my Spidey Sense starts to tingle. I am half surprised I didn't hear the word "children" somewhere in that dissertation.

I think we have to allow for people to learn. Why do we expect everybody to be "into" guns?
