Lee hand press
Well i'm lookin at getting a lee hand press for the rcbs primer pocket swager. I'm wondering how well this would work? How hard do i need to press 2 swage 223 brass?

Re: Lee hand press
I started off reloading with these hand presses and slowly converted myself to a few bench presses. The hand press is good if you're going to create a load at the range, but it does become tiresome holding it after long sessions. I'd imagine you would suffer the same type of fatigue from doing primer pocket swaging this way. Though you can't go wrong with the hand press due to its portability. You're only going to lose $30 - $40 if you don't like it.

Re: Lee hand press
Well i have a loadmaster i'm just lookin for something 2 swage 223 and maybe 308 down the road. If i could do 50 in under a half hour i would be happy. I was looking at the dillion super swager 600 but its $100 and only does 1 thing. As where if i get the lee hand press and the swager die it would only set me back maybe $60. And i would have a portable press i could make ammo with if i ever wanted to. Is the rcbs swager die the best swaging die out there or is there better options?

Re: Lee hand press
I've recently got the Lee turrent press kit from Cabelas. A bit over the money but once set up it bangs out loads pretty fast. I'm totally new to reloading so I'm lost on some of thr jargon.

Re: Lee hand press
The Lee hand press will work for what you want to do. It will not take you 30 minutes to swage 50 primer pockets, more like 5 or 10.
Great little press.

Re: Lee hand press
I have both the RCBS swager, and the Lee hand press. I can tell you from experience that it won't work... The "cup" piece that pops the primer pocket off of the swager needs to hit something flat to work. the Lee hand press dosen't have a big enough flat at the bottom to make it work. You could always machine a piece to make it work, but it seems a bit complicated...
But, the hand press comes in very handy for other jobs! It's well worth the cash! Wouldn't hurt to get one to fiddle with. If you do figure out how to get them to work together, let me know how. I'd love to use mine to swage some 223 also!
