    Unhappy damage gas ring

Hey Guys ! was wondering if I can get an opinion on something.
Was cleaning my Bushmaster xm15 es 2 after shooting at the range and noticed one of the gas rings was busted. I usually shoot federal or american eagle or remmington had no problems I dont think I even put a 1000 rounds through her yet an ideas of what the cause? should I be concearned ? am going to order a whole set ( 3rings ) or may just order the bolt assembly.

that just looks like a gap.

they're easy to replace, only a few $. It should work as is...but it's too easy to fix it.

Well its a bit wider than the other gaps plus if you could see (Picture not great ) gap is wider than others and is bent, just wanted to know if this is normal with use or indicates some underlying problem i heard that you should replace the rings after 3000 rounds and I know I havent put that many though it

Nothing to worry about. Those rings are thin and tiny...you could have had one that got kinked and flattened back out at the factory or something.

FYI, you can make the gun run on 1 gas ring in good shape. You still want to replace it, though.

As long as it doesn't cause any problems inserting the bolt into the carrier I wouldn't worry too much. People dont seem to realize that when you put the bolt in the carrier it's going to compress the rings and the gap will be all but closed unless there is actually material missing from the end of the ring. It can't hurt to replace them, but it's not something I'd be worried about

That's a little wider than normal but if the gun is functioning I'd just buy some spares to have in your AR field repair kit (you do have a field repair kit don't you? )

Buying ONE? If you are going to pay shipping, get some spare parts. Lower springs and extractors are always good if you don't have the money for a spare bolt.
