Para-Ordnance GI Expert
Was browsing the lower class 1911 .45 acp and seen this one.. anyone have any opinions or comments? Retails in local stores for around 500 or the price of a taurus 1911.

Haven't seen one myself other than on the Para site. Looks like a nice gun for the price

Re: Para-Ordnance GI Expert
Had the credit card out for one today and at the last minute bought an RIA.
Seemed really nice in hand. Nice sights, commander hammer, the only thing that had me scrathing my head is why they cut a corner and went with a plastic trigger. Pretty minor thing but odd to me.
The fellow at the shop also pointed out that they are one of the few companies that use cast frames and slides.... he was not a fan of that.

Taurus has a beavertail grip safety and much better sights.
I wouldn't buy a 1911 without decent sights and beavertail.

Re: Para-Ordnance GI Expert
I was looking at this as my next purchase....can't afford the Kimber just yet...but really wanted a .45. What kind of "Tail" is it....it doesn't look like a beavertail, but it's not a 1911A1 one either......Anyone shoot it or own it?

Re: Para-Ordnance GI Expert
Was going to pick one up that I had on layaway awhile ago. When I got there I ended up walking away with a Springfield Loaded SS that the shop just got in that day. Much nicer, but the Para GI seemed great for the price.
It has a crappy plastic/polymer trigger though... don't know if that matters to you or not.
