ARRRRGH! Hit a DEER! Smashed my car! Back to the STEALERSHIP!?!
Yup.
On my way into work this morning. 6:40am. Rt435 in Gouldsboro about a mile away from the I-380 exit/onramp.
No warning. Freakin doe was just FLEW out from the trees right on the side of the road and she was haulin' ASS! It was raining so the best I could do in the fraction-of-a-second was slam on my brakes.
Luckily, I wasn't going too fast. About 35mph....Who knows how much I had slowed to at impact. No airbag (thank God!)
Doe is dead.
My TOASTER is hurt:
I 'm gonna go call GEICO now and see where they want me to take it.
I suppose thay'll suggest the same Gibbons Toyota/Scion that I had the problem with last time.
I'm better prepared what to expect now and I'll try to get a loaner or something. Either way - OC is the uniform of the day!

Re: ARRRRGH! Hit a DEER! Smashed my car! Back to the STEALERSHIP!?!
Best of luck getting yer toaster back together again. To a deer, cars look like fast moving monsters with big bright eyes. Thier highly evolved instincts tell them to stay put in case the monster turns and goes another way, but if it continues to keep coming toward them, the next instinct kicks in which is make a run for it. Everyone who hits a deer says it came out of nowhere, and they're absolutely correct. A deer can stay hidden in 6 inches of grass, but when it decides the monster has spotted him with those big bright eyes and hiding is no longer the best option, it jumps from it's hiding place, often trying to confuse the monster by crossing its path and doubling back behind it. Unfortunately they underestimate the speed and power of the monsters and we're calling Geico.

Sorry to hear about your car. I hope the insurance covers the damages.
But I hope your freezer is full of meat.

you DO know that it does not matter where you take it to get it fixed?
you are better off with a reputable body shop than a dealership...IMO
I have found that the people who do collision repair every day are better at it...
Glock Pistols.......So simple a Caveman could fix them!

Been there, done that. Hit a huge buck going about 70. Totaled my T-bird. It was night, so I could not see where that damn deer went. I was going to throw him in the trunk.
Good luck with the repair. I think you will be amazed how much it will cost to repair that. Hope you get a decent loaner (rental) car.
