How do you steal shotgun and ammo from Walmart and walk out?

This guy in Tucson who was run over by the police had earlier stole a shotgun from Walmart. How do you do that? Aren’t they locked up?

From the little snippet they played on the news last night it appears as if he asked to see it feigning the intention to buy it so they let him handle the firearm.

Walmart is pretty famous for discouraging its employees from physical heroics. If a customer starts running for the door, they usually just try to get a license plate number and call the cops.

It's a bean-counter thing. Injured employees, or worse, injured customers, cost more than anything that's for sale in a Walmart.

On the other hand, if the cops catch you, Walmart is also famous for pressing charges. Or the cops may run you over. Or maybe both.

Agreed, but at every LGS I've ever been in the clerk will happily show you another firearm quickly if you try to steal or load the one you are handling.

i know everyone in gun stores OCs 1911s, a flashlight, a belt knife, a neck knife and 2 back up guns to be sweet and intimidating (if i worked there i would too).

but can they legally shoot you for trying to run away with an unloaded gun? i would think not.

okay now who is going to be the test case?

A couple years back they made the news because they fired a guy for stopping a shoplifter.
