Problems with #1 and #3 I'd have to break the law to do that

first responder? is that similiar to first aid training? or does it encompass more than that?

Who cares. Think of how things would of gone if there had been a couple students carrying. It certainly wouldn;t of made things worse, and I don't think they would of been punished for it.

I break the law frequently when I carry in places that don't allow it. You just have to prioritize.

I'm all for carrying and preempting the bad guy. However, one risk to consider when shooting the bad guy, is the dumb cops (only the dumb ones) will think you're the second perp and blast you since anyone with a gun in a 'gun free zone' must be a bad guy.

Still, After the BG goes down I'm sure people would GTF out of the area, yourself included. They would tell the LEOs that you killed the shooter, or something like that.

In that situation you have very few options


1) Shoot the guy that's killing everyone else, and trying to kill you. (yeah, there's a chance that the cops might shoot you, but the same could be said if you shot a guy robbing a bank, or mugging someone, even yourself)

2) Stare down the barrel of a gun that'spointed at you and beg for your life.

Yeah... Plus if caught with gun in no gun place then everywhere for you may end up being a no gun place.

First Responder
The First Responder is the most basic level of EMS provider certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This person is usually allied with a fire or ambulance squad or industrial, recreational response team. His or her job is to assess the situation and the victim's illness or injury and to stabilize their condition until more advanced help arrives.
The First Responder completes a 40-43 hour class which includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation, control of bleeding, stabilization of fractures, childbirth, oxygen administration, etc.. At the conclusion of the program he/she participates in a state practical and written examination.
First Responders are generally employed in heavy industrial settings as part of the plant emergency response team. They may also take additional training in fire fighting. Outside of that setting, they are often volunteers with their local emergency companies.
Certification as a First Responder is good for a period of three years, after which the individual must re-certify his/her certification. This re-certification can be done by successfully taking another practical and written evaluation or through continuing education, accruing 18 hours within the three year certification period (in addition to attending a CPR training/retraining course). I'm still in debate though, as I posted in another thread. Should I carry on campus.

on one hand, I'm risking my scholarships, and degree.
on the other hand I'm risking my life and the lives of my classmates.

With the stuff that has gone on around the off campus housing, and the types of people going to PTI I wouldn't put it past one of the druggies/dealers to go and shoot up the school over anything. But still, trying to make up my mind. Still have a week or so probably to decide but damn, wish I didn't have to and we could just carry w/permit on campus. I would even be willing to register with the school and say that I would be carrying.
