Benelli malfunction

Has anybody put a extended mag tube on a Benelli and had problems feeding? A friend of mine is experiencing this on his Super Black Eagle. Everything appears to be on correctly. However, he bought it new, and never fired it before installing the extended mag tube.

check the rings on the mag tube to make sure they are installed correctly.

also i think the mag extention tube may require a heaver spring??

Everything is installed correctly. The kit came with a spring specifically for the longer tube.

I think I may take it apart and re-assemble to stock for him and see if it still malfunctions. May not be the kit.

* Take the kit off.

* Reassemble and lubricate the SBE.

* Go shoot 3 boxes of any type ammo.

* How did it work?

* If OK, add the kit.

* If not return to Benelli.

That model gun should be nothing but thunder.

I agree with chalmitch on this one. My SBE needed to be broken in with 4 boxes of heavy game load before it would cycle lighter target loads. My mag extensions on my SBE and M1 & M2 tactical guns all worked fine.

I dont believe so.. The firearm isn't really disassembled to add on a mag tube extension. That it is still in an operating state when the part was changed out.

...or thats how I've come to understand that disassemble/(re)assemble clause.

The school of thought that I was following was that if you make an imported shotgun into a form here that can't be imported, you must play the parts game.


If SBE doesn't come with that long tube, then changing out the tube would change the gun into a non-importable state and must be made a "US gun" through 922r

hmmm.... something to consider for sure..

I really wouldn't worry too much about it.. There are other Benelli long mag tube guns on the market in the USA. The difference wouldn't be very obvious to the average Joe or LEO if you placed a factory long tube or a conversion in front of them. Most cant tell the difference between a Rem 870, Moss 500, or Win 1300 without picking it up and looking at the roll stamps.

to the OP: is the spring binding? feels weak? is it spitting the shell into the cradle to be raised for loading?
