    Default 9mm 1911-Need Input

I'm in the market for a 1911 in 9mm. The criteria are as follows:

    -Single stack magazine for "concealability"
-Commander length slide or greater i.e. 4" bbl minimum
-picatinny rail on frame for tactical light
-I'm not concerned with Manufacturer, as long as their weapon is quality
-I'm looking to spend $800 or less.

Any suggestions? So far I've found the Taurus 1911-B-1 but cannot find a vendor that has one in stock.

Caveat: I'm not intending this to be the impetus for a .45acp v/ 9mm debate. I'm dead set on 9mm due to the C.B.A. (Cost Benefit Analysis-Will save at least $65 every 200 rounds on Avg w/ 9x19).

    Thanks in advance!

    Nah it's not a deal-breaker. It's gotta be single stack & 9mm. After that I'm flexible.

Your criteria will leave you with very few options. I had a Kimber Stainless Target 9mm which was perfect with never a failure after thousands of rounds and accurate as hell. Springfield makes a good 1911 9mm as well. Unfortunately, you need to spend close to $1000 to get a quality 1911 9mm. I would go for the Kimber stainless target.

I have a Para-Ord Tac S in 45 acp., Light Double Action, excellent
quality and performs flawlessly. The 9mm you are looking for has been
mentioned and is also a quality pistol, go to: www.para-usa.com

These are out of your price range a bit, but they're a better gun than most anything you're going to find:

If the rail isn't a deal breaker, look no further:

Get it for just under a grand (which is a deal IMHO).

If the rail is necessary, then you can get a Duty One with a 5" barrel:

Although keep in mind, the doublestack STI 2011's aren't really any larger or less concealable than a single stack is. But they're also a lot more expensive.

I'd save up for a 2011 personally, no reason to go single stack in 9mm to be honest. The Tactical 4.15 I reviewed above is perfect for you, aside from the price (which is soooo worth it).

What'd you decide on? I've been looking at 9mm 1911's also.

You should look at the HK P7 series.

I like 1911s (have one), but the P7 is a HELL of a lot better for a 9mm single stack. It is a gun that has it's foibles...some like it, some don't, but the ones (like me) that like it, REALLY like it.

    AFARR

I should add: I've seen some 1911 9mms show up on the equipment exchange on AR15.com occasionally. Might be easier to look for a used one there than to worry about finding a dealer that has something in stock.
