Question Can I carry In NY?

I travel into upstate NY quite a bit (200 miles from NYC, luckily). I have a carry permit in PA---anyone know if I can carry in NY? I have a Winchester Defender (riot shotgun) that may be legal under federal law (please comment on this as well---can I have it loaded in a car or boat?). Thanks!

There are two different answers to these questions.

    1) NO

    2) Hell NO!

IF the barrel on the shotgun is at least 18" long it's legal fed wise.

NY does not honor PA's permit, you might as well be carrying a napkin in your wallet.

I wouldn't even risk traveling through NY with any firearm personally, granted I have no reason to go there.

If you ever do (and the others are correct: Don't) you better hope you never need to use it. Google "Bernie Goetz"

New York does not recognize ANY other state permits and does not issue non-resident permits. Unless you are a NY resident (or 'special' like LEO or retired LEO) you can not carry in NY.

It is almost as bad as N.J. up yonder.

Question Re: Can I carry In NY?

Unfortunately, I guess I knew the answer to question #1 but didn't want to ask a cop. What about the scattergun---can I have it loaded on a boat as long as I transport it unloaded by car?

Sorry Same answer no. The only time you can have a loaded shotgun in a boat is when it is sitting still while hunting water foul. If th engine is running your toast.

Lomg story short as a resident of PA you do not have the right of self defence in NY
