    Question Pistol Ammo Question

Can anyone tell me if it is safe to use +P ammo (.45ACP) in my Glock 30?

I believe all Glocks are rated +P. Man, I hope so, I have the M23 and never really worried about what I shot, powerwise anyway. I just checked the website, no mention of +P. A Glock Armorer should be able to tell us.

    Be safe (and appropriately powered).

Spoke with "Technical Service" at Glock. Armorer suggested that +P may overpower and shorten lifespan of this pistol if used repeatedly. He suggested shooting only enough to get familiar with the +P load then switching back to regular loads for prcatice. Guess I'll stay "standard factory"

I'll still carry +P in my carry piece.
I'd rather my lifespan stay long and the guns be shortened than the other way around.

Yes, but there's no reason to anymore. At one time, getting HPs to open relaibly at .45 ACP's low velocity was problematic, so the extra 100 fps or so from +P seemed like a good trade-off with the higher recoil.

Ammo construction has come a long way. There's no need for +P if you pick premium self defense HPs from the G30's 3 3/4" bbl.

Yes, it is safe... It could potentially cause more wear and tear if you piled 1,000's upon 1,000's of +p rounds through it, but I think most people would run out of $$ buying premium +p ammo before they wore out the pistol itself (so long as it's a quality pistol, which I consider the Glock to be - Even though I don't personally love Glocks).
The "need" for +p w/ modern ammo design can be debated, but the safety of it is pretty well established, IMO...

What others have said....you just might want to change the recoil spring more frequently.

Technically, SAAMI does not recognize a "+P" designation. Consequently, a manufacturer is unlikely too certify that +P ammo can be used with their product. So you are on you own. It will probably be OK. Use 45 ACP+P or 45 Super brass. It will accelerate pistol wear.

Yes it does. SAAMI recognizes +P for:

    9mm Luger
    .38 Special
    .45 ACP
    .38 Super Auto

    SAAMI doesn't recognize +P+, though.
