Default New Russian AK-74 Being Released By Arsenal SGL-31

Just a friendly heads up for the AK nuts amongst us. This is the real deal, built in the Izhmash factory by Legion (the custom shop). For those looking for the real deal in 5.45X39 here's your chance at a real Russian. Poison pill anyone?

I am not an AK person, but that one has my interest. I will wait until I hear from someone else if it worth spending that much on piece of Russian equipment.

Its a shame they have to cost so much for what they are. I'm not trying to downplay them but its still an AK, they are not the most hand crafted rifle on the planet.

That being said...being an AK nut, if I had the cash I wouldn't real soon

Thanks for the heads up ... wonder why they are more than the 7.62x39 version? Guess you have to pay a premium for it being "new".

It looks very nice, but what can it do that a Tantal or Bulgarian kit gun won't? that being said, I'd probably buy it anyway if I had the cash

Let's face it; the big appeal is that it's a real Russian gun and many folks will happily pay a premo for that.

Hold the pill, and the wallet. It's another 922'ed import with some US parts. Looks like the big sell is the Russian receiver. The brake truly looks like a US copy.

    Price: $1,095.00
    Manufacturer: Russia
    Description:
SGL31-44 (Saiga) - Russian made stamped receiver, semi-automatic AK-74, 5.45x39.5 caliber, front sight block with bayonet lug and 24x1.5 right-hand threads, US made chrome lined muzzle brake, US made mil-spec black polymer stock set, mil-spec. handguards with stainless steel heat shield, original Warsaw Pact length buttstock, US made double stage trigger ground, 1000 meter rear sight leaf, scope rail, accessory lug.

If you want to play with new AK's these days, you gotta deal with 922. If they are anything like the SGL-20's they will be very nice.

My only qualm is adding a new caliber to the arsenal... I am a 7.62X39 AK guy myself.

That said, I have no doubt I will be taking pics in "the chair" very soon...

Yep, stands to reason that ANY imported EBR is going to have to comply with 922; from SAIGA to Steyr and anything in between.

And FWIW, Arsenal guns have always had a "name" which is enough to get some to spend, and combined with Izhmash - it will sell.
