According to Reuters, the results of a recent poll (April 9 - 12) showed that over 80% of Americans favor the right to use deadly force including firearms in home defense, over 2/3 favored the right to use deadly force to defend yourself in the street, and over 2/3 had a favorable opinion of the NRA.
