Detective shot with own gun. Anyway to explain it?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...8f1_story.html
Inside a police department, behind locked doors, inside an interrogation room a detective gets shot 4 times with his own gun. Unbelievable!

Re: Detective shot with own gun. Anyway to explain it?
Story says the suspect apparently wrestled the gun away from him. Seems like the officer may have been careless, allowing himself to be overcome, but there isn't enough info in the story to allow much useful speculation.
Unusual, certainly, but nothing cries out "conspiracy!" to me.Last edited by twency; April 6th, 2013 at 10:49 AM. Reason: grammar

Re: Detective shot with own gun. Anyway to explain it?
You would think that an officer with as much experience as this detective had, questioning a suspect in a violent stabbing death, would keep sufficient distance between himself and the suspect. Of course, we'd have to go to the interview room video to determine the actual circumstances, ....they did have the cameras running, right? They didn't have " technical difficulties " while they rubber hosed, I mean "sweated" a confession from the suspect, did they? No...they wouldn't do that...
In all seriousness though, it really is a tragic incident, and I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family.

LEOs are shot with their own weapon more than with all the varieties of AKs put together. True fact. Look up FBI leoka.

Policy should be changed to officers being unarmed while interrogating someone.

Guaranteed antis will have a field day with this tragedy. They'll use it against guns in school programs. With the recent spat of murders in gun ranges and police stations the argument that gun-free zones invite violence is a little bit weaker.

"STUPIDITY", I totally agree with libra8 about being unarmed and with no
less than two leo's in the room, How about having the suspect "cuffed"
to the desk or chair.FUNDAMENTALS
