I just started doing this a few months back after doing loads of research and its is pretty much becoming a secondary income for me. Does anyone else day trade?

I don't but I think I may want to. Could you post what you use and where you researched?

I just read a lot of various stock forums and news articles and did some virtual trading. I use volume and candlesticks to watch for reversal trends and buy in then sell when the bearish signals are confirmed. I haven't tried my hand at shorting yet. I think I will give it some more time. The best part is I am not even playing with my own money anymore. LOL I am working on getting to the 25,000 mark in my cash account so I can daytrade.

best way is to do it is to experiment with virtual trading to get a feel for the market.

I did, but I pulled all of my money out of my account because I was invested in heavy in financials. I sold all of my stock for a profit right before the crash. However if I would have kept them I would have made 168k on my positions in DGP, BAC, C. I did move into SKF for a while, but I sold and closed my brokerage account.

I don't trade online, or trade outside of my 401K for that matter. However, in my line of work, I talk with people every day who do. I've been reading a really interesting book called Reminiscences of a Stock Operator . It was written in 1923 by Edwin Lefèvre, but a lot of people say that the principals on which he based his decisions are still valid today. It also makes for a pretty good read.

    Here's a piece from Wikipedia....

"A Classic Book on the Art of Speculation

First published in 1923, Reminiscences is a fictionalized account of the life of the trader Jesse Livermore.

The book tells the story of Livermore's progression to day trading in the then so-called New England "bucket shops", from there to market speculator, market maker, and market manipulator, and finally to Wall Street where he made and lost his fortune several times over. Along the way, Livermore learns many lessons, which he happily shares with the reader. Despite the book's age, it continues to offer insights into the art of trading and speculation."

I trade solely on technicals. I ignore news and I never believe in a company I just follow the trends. Seems to work. You will never win 100% of the time but if you don't get greedy and just learn when to pull the trigger you can make money even when the overall market is going down.
