Default Any Polish Tantal shooter? Idea needed

I hate two colored forearm on my Tantal.
I was just going to order some synthetic forearm for AK from tapco or whereever, but some friend told me that Tantal use different methods to secure forearm - specialy upper forearm that one for normal AK47 would not work.
I never owned AK47, so I'm not sure how they are different. To me, they look the same.
Is this true? if so where can I get forearm that fits my Tantal?
Below is pic of how my upper/lower forearm is on my Tantal.

I'm Polish and a shooter but i've never hunted Tantal. Does it taste like chicken?

Not real sure but the front hand guard retainer on the tantal looks to be the same one used to hold the lower. Typically its just twisted in two formed half rings.

This is a Romanian which accepts basically the standard stuff.

    Compare and decide.

The gas tube with top hand guard.

See the just the bottom has that retainer on a Rom AK.

    Closer look.

The back side of the top hand guard appears to be different. Like how its held. I could be wrong but looks different.

I don't know how its held on the tantal. But pop it off and look. Standard AK stuff fits the Romanian AK's. So if this is what you were going to buy. I don't know if it will work outright, or if you'll have to make it fit.

The bottom guard in your pic looks really nice. Too bad the top doesn't match. Or I'd leave it alone.

    Hope this helps.

Way lower guard attached to barrel indeed look similer.
Infact, I think I can get standard lower to work with mine.
    But upper is completely different..

Unlike reguler AK, upper handguard is NOT part of gas tube. Its separate piece where rear tang(red circle) would slide in to opening on front of rear sight, then one piece front retainer holds both upper and lower in place

How does upper rear attach in Standard AK ?

First pic. Same way it does on the front. Its the same kind of half ring that holds the front, just wider.

However, if the length it the same. All you have to do is cut that tail into it.
From the best I can figure, its about 4 5/16th's including what sits under the retaining rings. Rough measure.

If you have enough material to get where you need to go, I think you could shape it assuming it fits in the front retainer on the Tantal.
ID on the front upper retainer on the gas tube is about 1 1/8th. But the handguard I have is the ultra light thin poly one. I could crush it in half by just squeezing it in my hand. It has a stepped edge just like yours does that twists into the "U" shaped retaining half rings on the gas tube. That's literally how it goes on you put it on upside down, and twist it 180* once its fully down into the channel. Back side is just a hair over 1 1/4in. (inside the retaining ring which does shape the dimensions a bit in the way it holds it) If we were after wood or bakelite then I would care. But the thin poly ones will just flex into place. The hard poly ones, like my TDI lower, yeah well... get a hammer. (The matching railed TDI upper was a pitfa to twist in.) But if you work it it will shave down on its own.

Here's more pix. Again, I don't know if we're getting anywhere or not, but I hope this helps.

If I had to guess I would say your hand guard is longer than mine. From the way the rear site / trunion sits. Going by the same scale yours is roughly 1/2in or so longer.

I think you are going to come up short with standard AK furniture.

If I need AK parts or stocks I always check K-Var first. They have matching stock sets & a call to them will let you know if it will fit.

This one shoots (knock on wood) good. Front sight is slightly off(actually alot), and shoots little off to the left, may be inch low, but grouping is only slightly larger then my AR did at 100yds.
    No keyhole noted.... Yet.

Recoil is mild, if that - i think because its heavier then AR, and 5.45 projectile is lighter then 5.56 projectile(50gr vs. 55gr), recoil is almost non-existant.
But gun do move more when fired, because of bolt assembly is heavy chunk of steel.

One thing(and this goes to all Kalashnikov type gun) I don't care for it is that because it has shorter then NATO spec stock, my face is right at rear of reciever. Everytime i fire the weapon, i see that metal bolt handle flying stright back at me awful fast - I know it'll NEVER hit me. But being used to AR type, I still do flinch. which I'm sure doing nothing to improve my accuracy.

But other then that, I think its great weapon, and I find straighter magazine look better then that of "bannana" mag of 7.62.

No actually it tastes like pork.

I got a tantal AK-74 5.45x39mm, there are some problems with some but mine is fine and light.

I wish there was a saiga model in that caliber. I could get a more respectable ak-47 than what seems like mediocre grade ak-74s at the same price. I would love a 74 but it seems like you need to spend more to get a good one.

Anyway, im glad yours is working out for you, not my intent to bash on it.
