Night sights - are they worth it?
Reading this forum has put more of a pistol-buying bug in me than I have had in 10 years! Having said that, I am looking at several semi-autos and am trying to decide if I should get night sights or not. Do they really work at night? Is there a down side to having night sights on your weapon?
It is a carry-weapon.
Feedback is much appreciated.VEGETARIAN: Native American word meaning "bad hunter"

If it is a carry weapon, IMHO you want to have the weapon to sight in at night, since that's when your probably going to need it, if you ever need it. It's an added expense, but they work well in daytime and target shooting as well.

Yes. Think: Night time and the BG is wearing black. Also get a flashlight.

Yeah I think Night Sights are definitely worth the money if you plan on carrying the firearm.

I'll be putting night sites on all of my firearms that I intend to carry that currently do not have them. If you can't see the sights to line them up you are essentially just praying for a hit. My opinion.

Re: Night sights - are they worth it?
NS are valuable for CCW. Not just for pitch black, but for all those in-between times of day, like dusk, where your eyes are not at their best (your day-vision is failing but your night-vision hasn't kicked in yet...between "rods" and "cones," I forget which is which).
For home defense, NS allow you stay in complete darkness, yet sight in on someone standing in a lit area of the house.
As a plus, they're sturdier than the standard plastic Glock sights, so you get a mechanical improvement right there.

Great feedback, guys. Anyone have anything bad to say about night sights, other than the additional cost?
