Sportsman Supply on Gunbroker -- 100,000+ wow
Just thought I'd make the observation that Sportsman Supply (Butler PA) has feedback on 100,000+ transactions at Gunbroker. The volume that the shop does online is amazing to me. They seem to have a system of listing / selling that just plain works -- the 0.01 start, etc. They must have full-time people running listing, customer interface, and shipping.
I've bought and sold a few things here and there at Gunbroker -- I have feedback of 22. Takes time but clears out odds and ends, or items I'm not shooting. They've done 5,000x my volume. Gee whiz.

I'm not the biggest fan of the place, but they're doing something right.
A lot of people have said they're neglecting the storefront and longtime walk in customers. IMO, this is a good opportunity for those local customers to spend money elsewhere and make another shop successful.

They've also given the finger to their long time customers in the process.

I've been in the Sportsmans Supply store a few times recently while looking for ammunition, and my personal perception is that the people making the rules there are a bunch of assholes. Some of the employees were cool, and some ignored me. They have SOME ammunition for sale to walk in customers (and the prices aren't the best around), but they have a section of the floor set aside for large stacks of BOXES of ammo that is only being sold online, and they refused to sell me any of it. They are so worried about extracting every last dollar that they ignore their local customer base.
There's no point in buying it online because by the time you add in shipping, it becomes a worse deal than paying extra in the store.
They should close their store and go 100% online if that's how they want to be.Last edited by timk225; December 13th, 2014 at 11:57 PM.

After getting crappy service both times I was in there, I have no desire to go back. The shops I deal with act like they want my business.

This place singlehandedly killed the idea of an LGS for me. I now buy from wherever I can find something the cheapest (all in), which is always online and never from them.
