Just ordered a phobus paddle holster.
I have always loved leather for holsters but I have been reading about holsters and saw claims that the phobus, in addition to being convenient, does not retain moisture like a leather holster - which reduces corrosion.
I went to braverman's arms and for $24.00 they ordered me one for my Ruger SP101 .357.
I don't think I can go wrong for $24.00.
Anyone else use the Phobus? They claim you can stand on your head and the gun will not fall out, yet there is no retaining strap you have to snap off before you draw. Also, you do not have to thread a belt through the holster as it slips over your belt.

Re: Just ordered a phobus paddle holster.
People need to search. We just had 101 reasons why they suck and it would have been the first post you saw if you searched for "fobus"

It's alright, everyone has wasted money on one of these things at some point.

Re: Just ordered a phobus paddle holster.
It will work fine as a range holster but do review the links others have posted as it does possess some serious engineering design issues.

Re: Just ordered a phobus paddle holster.
As we all know, the issue with the fobus is durability.
OTOH, I wouldn't want to train out in inclement weather with a $200 Kramer leather horsehide holster and get it soaking wet. Having an inexpensive "weatherproof" holster for just such an occasion is not impractical. And so long as both holsters position the handgun in the same relative location it won't affect "muscle memory".

Re: Just ordered a phobus paddle holster.
Often the old saying IS true --- YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I am not anti-Kydex by any means but I would never use a Forbus holster for anything other than a "range holster. There are several companies that manufacture good quality Kydex holsters. Suggest that you take a look at Blackhawk Surpa (may not be avalable for the Ruger SP-101), Blade-Tech, Comp-Tac, Fist, CrossBreed. There certainly are others.
