    Default New case tumbler question

Hello everyone. I just purchased a RCBS tumbler and have a question. I'll be using RCBS formula 2 brass media corn cob & I also purchased Frankford Arsenal Brass Case Polish. If I just use the corn cob media alone can I store it in the tumbler without problems? If I use the Frankord polish is it still ok? Should one or both be stored in a seperate container? The instructions don't address this. It's probably a stupid question, but... Thanks for any advice.

    Yes, yes, no.

The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

That is a quote from the days when I was a student at the Navy Instructor School. Yes, that was many years ago but it stuck with me.

i store my media in coffee cans. I have corn cob, treated corn cob, walnut, and treated walnut.

also. check out pet stores for walnut and corn cob media. it's usually in the section with bird supplies. it's essentially the same stuff but you get a lot more for a lot cheaper. you can always buy polish additives to ad if you so desire.

I've been using strictly untreated walnut and i get nice clean shiny yellow brass when i'm done. no additives.

Leave it in there. Once it gets dirty, throw a dryer sheet in there (without any cases) and run it for a while--the dryer sheet does its job and soaks up a lot of the gunk. It can extend the life of your media quite a bit.

Have fun and be safe reloading!

I use walnut and then treated corn cob. What ever is in the tumbler is in the tumbler. I store the one I'm not using in a one gallon zip-loc.

Absolutely best/cheapest way to buy. Comes in 20-25# bags. MUCH cheaper than the packaged stuff from RCBS. I drop in a dollop of car polsh and it's good to go.
