    Default Barrnes varmint grenades

I got my lyman 49th today and see they have loads for the Varmint grenades, has anyone loaded these yet, I have been wanting to try them but had to wait for Data. I will be shooting them out of a Savage 223.I have read some good things about them, I especially like the idea that they pretty much explode on contact

They are by far the least accurate bullets I've tried. You may get better results, though.

I have some of those too I've been wanting to try out, but my scale is broke From what I've read on other threads you'll have to play around with seating depth for accuracy.
You can have my guns, bullets first.

Although I don't shoot them in any of my rifles, all my best friends that I reload with (beside each other) do. Most of them have had quite a bit of trouble getting them to stabilize well and shoot good. Some of the better groups were between 1.5-2" groups at 100 yards. This was playing with all kinds of things like charges, primers, seating depth, and neck tension. I've heard some people that can get them to shoot that LOVE them. Either way, most of the reviews that I have seen are that they are hard to get to shoot, IF you can get them to shoot. They're pretty long and light, but due to their bearing surface they may need some extra twist; I'm not sure.

There are lots of bullets that "explode on contact", these are just the new thing that does indeed work well and look pretty. They have VERY thin jackets. If you can't get them to choose, try picking up some Sierra Blitzkings. Never had trouble getting them to shoot, and they are quite explosive as well. Either way, I hope you can get something that will make a big "plop" when it hits.

When I first read about these varmint grenades I was ready to go out and buy some. Then when I heard how much they cost!!!!!!! Well I will just stick with Sierra Varminters and Hornady V-MAX, the groundhogs won't know the difference.
