Transport Air rifles from PA to NJ ???
I just picked up two adult sized Air rifles, They are an FWB 124 and a HW 80, They are quite nice German made air guns, I would love to bring them to a friends house in NJ since he has a basement that's over 20 yards, They are accurate like I cannot believe And are rated at about 1000 FPS,
Can I bring them from PA to NJ Legally?

Air rifles are classified as firearms in NJ.
If you do intend on actually using them at your friend's house, and you store the air rifles in your trunk in a locked container with the ammo in a separate container, you *should* be within the letter of the law, so long as you do NOT deviate from a direct path to your friend's house while in NJ. If you do, you can be arrested and put away for years.Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.

Can't help with Jersey laws, but I gotta say congrats on the FWB 124. It's probably the classiest springer ever made. I have a Beeman-Webley Vulcan, which is the predecessor to your HW 80. If I told you how many squirrels have fallen to that gun, you'd look at me funny & say that I'm full of crap.

Bold is wrong. If you don't know the law don't talk about it.
The trunk is considered a locking container you can just chuck them in.
But I going to admit I perplexed by the rules on the pellets. There really not ammo, so I don't know if the ammo transportation rules would apply.

I was merely erring on the side of caution, no need to attack me and tell me I don't know the law and that I should be silent.Last edited by General Geoff; May 19th, 2009 at 09:03 PM.

As someone else said , The Peoples Socialist Republic of NJ treats Pellet /BB Guns as FIREARMS . So unless you are going to an " approved range " and have a NJ Fire Arms ID Card , you WILL be taking a chance . See this thread for more detail

Red and bolded parts relate to a guy from out of State that missed his connecting flight in Newark , declared his Firearms at the Airline Counter the next day as required by Fed Law and was arrested and jailed for 5 days because he was in possesion of a firearm in NJ without a NJ Firearms ID CardSi vis pacem, para bellum

Man NJ. sucks pretty bad when I cant ever bring a couple of pellet guns to a friends house to shoot in the basement.
Well I am in Phila, So I cant even shoot them in my yard which is 100 Yards deep and wooded.

No one said you COULDNT do it . Just wanted you to be well aware of the possible consequences if you did and got jammed up . Personally , as long as your not driving like a jackass , or otherwise giving an officer a reason to pull you over , the odds are no one would ever be the wiser . But there are still some frightening possible outcomes if Murphys Law kicked in . Just sayinSi vis pacem, para bellum
