Default What percentage of your guns are "synthetic"?

What percentage of your guns are "synthetic"?

It occured to me that currently 100% of my firearms have stainless barrels or some kind of "plastic resin" stock. There is not wood and fine blueing to be found anywhere in my collection.

40 years ago I would have never thouht this would be the case. All of you who never trade or sell your guns won't, of course, have this problem. Not that it IS aproblem. I am very satisfied with what I shoot.

So what percentage of your firearms are synthetic and/or stainless?

Remember - some old guns were beautifully made by artisans but it is hard to beat new technology and materials. Of course they are ALL good. (well, mostly - you know the lemons)

40% of my rifles have wood stocks, the rest are black. And all of my handguns are polymer frames, although one has a stainless slide, and one (Ruger 22/45 Lite) is gold-anodized aluminum. Now that I think about it, cosmetics isn't that high on my list. Accuracy, reliability, capacity, fit, all more important than looks, since I buy them to shoot them.

It's like buying shoes. If you're a collector, you buy funky limited-edition Nike's. If you're a runner, you buy what feels the best on your foot, not what looks cool.

I have a CZ 452 Ultra Lux and a Browning Citori XT Trap both with wood furniture (and fine wood at that). Everything else is rubber or plastic.

Strange, but as I get older, it's fewer and fewer. None of my rifles and only 1 of my pistols are plastic.
