    Default The saga continues

So i'm sure some of you know the story with my s&w model 19 with a junk barrel. I've decided to fix it because I recently came into a little money ($150 lol). I've decided to hot rod the gun a little. here is the barrel and underlug i'm planning on going with.

now in this picture they have a one piece setup for the sights. it should be possible for me to just get a fiber optic or similar front sight and keep the stock rear sight correct? I still haven't called the company yet but i just want to get a general idea of how much more money i need to save up to complete the project.

Yes. You don't have to go with a one piece sight rail.

That sight on the photo you posted is a so-called "Rib" sight. Usually they have adjustable front, as well as, rear sights. The revolvers were built like that for PPC shooting or bullseye shooting. That barrel will be heavy. Don't know for sure what custom barrels go for now but in the 70s and 80s I shot a lot of matches and you could get a Douglas, or other, barrel turned down to your desired diameter and installed, with front sight, for a pretty reasonable price. I had a 6" blank turned down to .975" for a M-1917 S&W that had a shot out barrel. It was reasonable and it shot like a dream. Al

Looks as if this original set up was for PPC shooting(Practical Police
Combat) 1500 Matches. With out further deatails on the Sight System,
I would venture to say it looks like an Aristocrat System for 7, 25, & 50
yard, 3 position sighting. (#1, #2, #3). Gun Sight Co. San Gabriel, Ca.
My competition gun was made by Lou Ciamillo of Maryland Gun Works in
the early eighties, off of an S&W Mod 10 Frame. One sweet competition
revolver with many enhancements, such as double action only. smooth
    as a babies bottom.
