    Default 1911 or AR

Ok, this isn't really a "which gun is better" thread, I just want to bounce something off you guys and girls and see what sticks. I have gotten the wifely blessing to buy something awesome this spring, and I have it narrowed it down to either "bad-ass 1911" or "bad-ass AR". I currently have the usual smattering in my collection, but it includes neither of these guns. I have a really nice AK, nice SKS, plenty of ammo and a couple different carry guns, so I'm good there, this will be strictly a "want". In 1911 were talking in the Wilson Combat neighborhood, I like stainless. In AR's I go RRA with some accessories and an EOTech. Get to shoot handguns way more, but probably wouldn't be shooting either too often, just staring and drooling. So.....what would you do??

Get the AR right now.. God knows what kind of laws that could turn up in the next 4 years.

The 1911's will always be available.

AR...and if you're spending the dough, cough the extra 1-200 bucks and get one of the following instead of RRA (this is the order of progression I would follow)

    Charles Daly M-4DLE
S&W M&P (Magpul MOE version if you find it)
    LMT (lewis machine & tool)

1-200 is a small jump in price for what extra quality you're going to get out of it.

I say AR but I think that I would suggest getting as many mags as possible rather than getting the optics right away. You can still use the iron sights and we don't know what may be coming down the path regarding mags in the future.

What makes you think rifles purchased now will be grandfathered in the upcoming AWB? You could very well buy a rifle the government is going to tell you to surrender without compensation.

My guess is that's going to be REALLLLLY hard to do.

So what are you saying though? That we just give up? The logistics of them collecting up every AR or AK or SKS or FAL or M1A or Mini-14 or or or or in the states would be unreal.
