    From September 2008 American Rifleman.

    Data released by the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System show 886,183 back ground checks were made on the sale of firearms in May, a 10.3 percent increase from 803,061 reported in 2007. Adjusted state figures show background checks up 8.8 percent during the month.
