Default 1934 NFA Congressional Hearing Transcripts

This was an interesting read, especially what came from the head of the NRA who testified. It seems to me the man had mixed feelings about what to support. He was definitely lacking in knowledge in regards to legal areas, even though he was a lawyer, and he didn’t give any thought to individual rights at all it seemed to me. He was responsible for some horrible firearm legislation passing in DC which became the fore bearer to their current firearm headaches in that city, or at least up to Heller. Then every once in awhile he blurbs out about not wanting to punish the law-abiding citizen with the NFA legislation and he tells the Congress members he has suspicions of the intent of the bill. I also found the discusion interesting of classifying all guns that can fire more than about 12 rounds in a row a machinegun, whether it was the auto or semi we know of today. It seemed mag capacity was being taken into consideration in calling a semi a machingun before they agreed upon a better definition of a machinegun relating to the act.

Mr. FREDERICK. I mean dealers. I think an annual fee of $200 a year will eliminate 95 percent of the dealers in pistols.
Lets translate that to todays prices....

If you figure in the 1934 price index it would be $3000.
