They will accept renewals if issued in Mercer County.

Re: Mercer Co. no longer issues non-resident CCW
Mercer Co. sheriffs office is a pain to deal with anyway. I always go to Venango to get mine done. Much easier and faster.

Re: Mercer Co. no longer issues non-resident CCW
Any PA resident can go to any Sheriffs dept in the state and file for a PA carry permit. Franklin is actually a closer drive than Mercer is for me anyway - yet another reason why I get my permit renewed there.

Re: Mercer Co. no longer issues non-resident CCW
Incorrect. A PA resident MUST go to the sheriff of the county in which he/she lives.
A non-PA resident may go to any sheriff.
Mercer residents need to remind this sheriff that he doesn't get to choose whether or not to accept non-resident applications. He HAS to accept them.Last edited by mrjam2jab; May 18th, 2014 at 02:06 PM.

Re: Mercer Co. no longer issues non-resident CCW
Then how have myself and my wife gone through this process in Venango county on more than one occasion? The sheriff makes his own law there?
