Question about a 22 mag cylinder.
I just bought a heritage 22/22 mag. It came with two cylinders. One 22lr and one 22 mag. My question is why cant I just shoot the 22lr out of the mag cylinder? Its not like I have to change cylinders on my 357 when I shoot 38s. Is the second cylinder necessary or is it just a gimmick to make the deal seem sweeter? Thanks,Brian

Re: Question about a 22 mag cylinder.
The case of a 22 mag. is larger in diameter .240 vs .223 as well as longer than the 22lr. A 357 magnum uses the same diameter case as the 38 special only longer.

Re: Question about a 22 mag cylinder.
In theory you can, however the accuracy will be terrible, the cases will split, and you'll have a hell of a time getting the spent cases out. That's why you get 2 different cylinders.

Re: Question about a 22 mag cylinder.
not only will your cases split but you'll get keyholes in the target.
Also potential blowback it the small diam LR cartridge doesn;t seal in the oversized chamber.
