    I tested these bullets in my 1898 Krag carbine (.30-40 cal. for those who don't already know). Their .30 cal PC bullets on top of an appropriate dose of IMR 4198 shot a dime-sized five shot group at 50 yds.

    Yeah, I cheated and used the 2.5X scope that looks as though it was mounted there around 80 years ago. The Krag carbine used in the testing is 117 years old but functions just fine. Figured it must have dropped a few bucks long before it came to me, which is probably why somebody paid the extra bucks a very long time ago to put a 2.5X scope on it.

    Which is why I'm taking this carbine out for hunting early tomorrow morning.

    The Krag was made to shoot 220 gn RN and while there is absolutely no round nose on King's very cool 215 grain PC bullet, it feeds/works like a charm in the Krag.

    And for those who haven't held a Krag, it has the slickest bolt action of any rifle I own.

    Just sayin....

    Some preliminary testing so far yielded the following:

    1. OAL of 2.095 works very well.

    2. Like pistol bullets, these coated ones pick up a good bit of velocity vs. jacketed bullets of similar weight when using the same powder charge. Reduce the powder charge (or barrel length vs. 16") to get the same velocity vs. jacketed data. Nice bonus for stretching supply of hard to find powders.

    3. These are very, very accurate bullets. I only tested with a red dot so far but will with a scope to see just how accurate they can be.

    4. Lil Gun is perfectly fine with the coating, no observed melting of the coating by supposedly high burn temp of the powder.

    5. Dillon "C" .30 carbine powder funnel for expanding the case neck to avoid shaving coating works very well, followed by the Lee FCD. I also chamfer the inside of the case mouth just as a precaution as cutting down 5.56 brass put a nasty edge on them.

    6. 10.5" barrel LOVES them. Haven't tested other lengths yet.

    My wife is going to be very, very happy with this as her Christmas present this year. (The gun and the ammo.)

    Test some out quickly this morning in the rain.

    Shot nice, fed well. I suspect taking my time I could tighten the groups up a bit.

    Expanded the case with a 30-30 die before seating.

    So what load data are you guys using for these? What should I compare to so I can start the powder charge calculations? I can't find a1680 to save my life so I'll be using n110 right now

    Hornady's 225 BTHP is pretty good as a reference for charge weights, 2.095 works as a OAL.

    Just got my order of 300BLK PC bullets

    Load data: 9.2gn of IMR 4227 seated COAL= 2.160"

    HI=1068fps; LO=1045fps; AVG= 1059fps.

    5 shots at 25 yds with 10.5" AR. open sights. No issues. May try and slow them down a bit, going to try 9.0gn

    Very pleased so far and thinking I found my go to subsonics! I was using Sierra 220gn round nose but they are much more expensive.

    *ETA: 2nd 5 shot group was loaded at 9.0gn IMR4227. Bullets were seated deeper at COAL= 2.120"
    HI=1070; LO=1029; AVG= 1048.

    Can anyone provide a length on this bullet? I'm curious if these will stabilize in a 1:10 twist. I'd love to shoot these in my .308.

    Thanks guys!
