    Default Military/RPG ?

Does any one know the reason why the US has never gone the RPG route.
I know we have our m203's and a great selection of hitech armour defeating missles, but with the low cost and easy operation I wonder why we didn't come up w/ something along the same lines.

Dragon/Tow are many tech steps above RPG
I thought that they stopped making/using Laws
I know they are phasing out Tows for hellfire& dragons for Javelins but these are not cheap like the RPG. I know we need the above but did not know why we didn't have something cheap that is in between

Were Stingers only for air targets? They have been around for a long time.

The same reason we don't mount guns in the back of pickup trucks... we don't need money

As for the RPG... its a soviet weapon / communist weapon, just like the AK, why would we use a weapon made by our enemies?
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

I believe that the weapons mostly used today are the Javelin and the AT4.

The Javelin is expensive and a Fire-and-Forget, guided missile. The guidance/targeting module is reusable.

The AT4 is relatively cheap and a point-and-shoot, unguided rocket.

The Javelin is freakin awesome. The AT4 is much cheaper than the Javelin but more expensive than the RPG. The AT4 will penetrate much more than the RPG and AFAIK the AT4 can hit targets at greater range consistantly. (not that either of them are consistant at longer ranges) One advantage to the RPG is it can be reloaded quickly... The AT4 tube gets discarded.

We had our variants in the form of bazookas, the M72 LAW, AT4/M136, and other anti-armor weapons. Ours just looked different.
