It doesn't. It just knows where you shop, not what you buy there.

    Except AmEx.

This could open the door to a bank issuing a card that gives cash back for gun purchases.....

    Whats in your wallet?

I was thinking more cash back for gun purchases. Citi has a 1% card but gives 5% back on different categories and Costco gives 4% on gas, 3% on restaurants, and 1% everything else.

Now that gun shops have their own category a bank could do something like this. I have a feeling it would be very popular and 2A supporters would flock to it.

I see. Well, it couldn't be just for guns, since stores with the cat code sell more than guns. It would have to be for anything they sell.

But I see what you're saying. Would make for a good NRA branded card.

I wonder what they would do with sporting goods stores that sell guns. Are they sporting goods or guns?

    'Cash only!'

    'Buy locally only!'

Yeah, I'm going to find a new Beryl rifle at an LGS...

Or an HK SP5 or SP5K...

Or many other limited quantity items that are available only at select online vendors, many of which have no method other than CC for payment.

'Don't affect me. I only buy locally, and only with cash...'

Kind of like, 'Don't affect me. I don't need a bumpstock or a pistol brace to shoot a deer.'

    Sounds a little Fuddish.

To bad Amex isn't widely accepted by a lot of smaller stores due to their high fees. Amex charges more than double what Visa/Mastercard & Discover charge for CC processing fees.

at one point last year Biden wanted all bank accounts with over $600 monitored as well as transactions over 600. they stepped away from this and had changed it to 10k. Not sure where this plan stands now.
