Star BM 9mm questions
So I just pick up a Star BM 9mm for a great price. I wanted a 9mm to train the better half to shoot. This thing was in rough shape. Looked like it hadnt been cleaned in years , a little pitted, so on. Well after breaking it down completely and spending 2 hours cleaning it it is beautiful.
Now , I have a lead on mags for it , thanks to another member, but I have some other questions for anyone that has one.
1. Ive heard any holster that will fit a colt commander will work, is this true? Also heard Kahrs as well?
2.Whats the true reliability of this gun? Would you use it to carry? ( cause i like the feel of it , lol )
3. Anyone have a lead on nice grips for it?
Thanks in advance guys .No longer posting

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
FWIW, Ive heard that Stars are extremely reliable, despite sometimes cheap appearance. Ive only fired a few over the years and experienced no problems, but this was probally 500 rounds at the most.

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
A star came my way about 3 months ago and I love it. I have been carrying it. I have put about 200 rounds through it with no real problem.
This link will give you all the information you could possibly want.

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
the same fella that has the mags has grips.
mine has been dead reliable for me.
you can also get original issue holsters from a guy on gunbroker, but he's a little impressed with his own stock. the prices do come down slowly on his stuff though.MORDENTE MEUM

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
Reliability? Excellent, providing you do your part. That means proper care, cleaning, lubrication and proper selection of ammo, especially ensuring that it will feed and function appropriately with your selected ammo.
I had one which was absolutely fun, worked perfectly, and was as accurate as I could be. I'd carry and depend on it without question. However, I gave it to my son. He carries it and depends on it fully.
No knowledge of "commander holster" choice (when I did carrry it, which was very little, it was in an Uncle Mike's floppy holster IWB or a "one-size-fits-none" Uncle Mike on the belt), or grips either, for that matter. I liked it "as-is".

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
Well i took the Star BM out today for the first time. I cant say enough about how well it shoots. It has a nice smooth trigger on it. Ate every kind of ball ammo i fed it and not a single FTE or FTF in 200 rounds. I bought a Galco IWB leather holster that was designed to fit a 1911 and it fit perfect. I do believe this may become my new carry gun other than my P3AT.

Re: Star BM 9mm questions
Ive never shot a 1911 design pistol. Im very impressed with it. I am seriously thinking about another 1911 design pistol for the collection. I dont really like 45's to much. Id love the new Taurus 1911 in 40s&w.
