should congress have to have the same health care they want us to have?
This is IMPORTANT Subject: House Resolution 615
Please pass this on!!
On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a
two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would
require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any
new government-run health plan. Congressman John Fleming (Louisiana physician) has proposed an amendment
that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care
plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are
exempt.)
Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign
his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at:
http://fleming.house.gov/index.html .
Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!
If Congress forces a "health care plan" on us, they should have to
accept the same level of health care for themselves and their families.

The best thing we could do to Congress right now is to make it a part time job, have them meet for 50 days every other year like Texas does their legislature. This cuts costs, keeps them from having too much time to be up to mischief, and forces them to have regular jobs and live the lives of average citizens. We would see an immediate and permanent cessation of the absolutely inexcusable crap that happens with our national government if this was to be implemented.

Petition signed. But I would be amazed if this happens, politicians know this plan is worth shit, and they want nothing to do with it.

Correct! However as you know the government is into "evolution" and "progression" of policy, so if they start with the current proposal and it evolves into something different, then at that point I say absolutely YES they deserve what they think is best for "the people"....
If can find the clip I that I'm thinking of I will post it were they are having a conversation about how they start at X so that they can then get to Y through a slow progression....Last edited by d90king; September 26th, 2009 at 11:59 AM.

Morel, we've been over this.
1) BHO's admitted goal is single payer, which means NO MORE PRIVATE HEALTH CARE.
2) The structure of the plan as proposed gives an unfair advantage to the US Government sponsored program - which means the US Government's objective is to put private insurers out of business.
Yeah, you might initially get to "choose" to stick with your private plan, but once they inevitably go under and all other private plans go under than you'll only have that one choice, won't you? These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for. LMAO

Consider this. Instead of all the BS and wasted effort everyone's going through now, why not just endorse all of the insurance companies presently included in the Federal Employees Health Plan (which covers Congress also) and allow them to write policies in all 50 states and D.C. and Territories. That would make some 300+ companies immediately competing nationwide and drive down insurance costs. Then add in some genuine tort-reform (just adding loser pays would end a lot of garbage) and the job is finished. Well except possibly for qualifying more insurance companies to operate nationwide.

Re: should congress have to have the same health care they want us to have?
Agreed.
However I'm getting tired half truths in every argument people have on politics these days. Everywhere, online, TV, in person. Everyone seems to have accepted that it's a given..
It's lead to the rising dumbing down of society in general, and one of the reasons why our government is filled with idiots.
People screaming about Bush and Obama being close to Hitler/Stalin.. It's totally insane, but slowly people forget just how WORSE Hitler an Stalin were, and more inaccuracy enters to social subconsious.
Scaring people about Death Panels, Saying we're going to be Communists, That Brownshirts are going to come knocking, Indoctrination of our young blah blah blah..
Yes, every issue has problems, I find fault with a great man things.. However I'm getting sick of the sensationalism and "OMG WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE FROM SUPER AIDS" mentality that seems to be growing every day..
Obama is never.. EVER... going to have a single payer system.. The Insurance lobby has too many people in congress in their pockets. Period.. I don't care what people say, what some talking head on TV says, or what article drudge comes up with. As long as Corporations have that much control over congress you're not going to see it done..
Especially now that Obama has used up a huge amount of the good will political capital he had enjoyed right after the election..
It's not pie in the eye dreaming. It's political reality. The elimination of private insurance companies will not happen without a major reworking of the lobbying system in this country.. The Post office didn't kill Fed-Ex and UPS, and I don't even know if they have lobbyists.. lol
