Default Looking for an Ankle Sized Revolver

im by no means a gun collector, my income doesnt allow me to be as crazy as some of my firends, but i like to cover all my bases. i have my assault rifle, got my shotgun, got 2 good carry pieces, so the last thing on MY list is a revolver.

im looking for a good revolver that will fit nicely in an ankle holster.

    any suggestions?

Look at the Taurus model 85. It is small and light.

I'm not a big fan of carrying in an ankle holster, personally. For a small revolver I'd go with a S&W 442 or 642, preferably used if cost is a factor. Should not be more than $400 new. Less old. Neither has an exposed hammer and so are DAO. Ruger has a new one that is just a hair lighter, (15 versus 13 ounces) and that looks promising, called the LCR. Don't know the price yet, but probably cheaper than S&W. But I'd trust a Ruger revolver over a Taurus or anybody other than S&W, hands down. Third option, if I was buying, would be an old used Colt Agent/Cobra/Detective. Those guns can still be found in good shape and quality and had the added advantage of holding six rounds in about the same size of the S&Ws. Just a slightly bigger cylinder.

During my tenure as a police officer, I carried a BABY Glock in an ankle holster opposite of my strong side. Never had a problem with running, it coming loose, or the availability to draw. I also carried in this manner off duty while wearing slack and docker style pants. Plenty of room at the leg opening. Their are techniques for carrying and drawing said weapon from this type of carrying location.

So, why carry a 5 shot when you carry 10 and its the same weight? Just wondering??? Most of my guns were bought used! Good luck!

I second the 638-3. It's got the "bodyguard" shrouded hammer that you can cock back for SA if you wish but it has a nice DA trigger too. I've been carrying mine for at least the last 3 years in an ankle holster or a pocket holster. The finish has worn on some spots but honestly what do you expect from a carry gun. As far as using a sub compact glock, I find them to be to large to be comfortable on my ankle, in the pocket, that's a different story.
