    Default Wood gun rack plans

I saw the modern gun rack idea in the Gun pics forum but does anyone have any plans or ideas on wooden display racks? My wife (may have been just bait) suggested that we should repaint the downstairs living area a country blue and tan color, then put up a couple gun racks for some of the guns I have refinished (Garand, M1 Carbine, etc). I wanted to see if you guys had any plans so I could get to building. I told her it sounded like a nice open-windows Fall project.

I went way too small on the gun safe so I could benefit from hanging a few.

Thank you Jack. That 2nd one looks like it would be what I'm looking for.

I built one of those in high school wood shop. I like the first one better with the slots for the barrel end up higher so the rifles sit level. The .22 displayed in the second one looks kind of stupid leaning like that.

In the past I have taken a piece of white birch, split it of a table saw, drilled it and placed pieces of wood dowels in to place guns on the wall. They turned out to look pretty nice when done.

If you can't find a rack that suits you here then you don't know what you want. I believe he posted on the Gunboards that he was "overstocked" on some of his rack components and they were on sale. Don't know for sure but he even has the plans listed free for all the racks. I modified one plan to fit my situation.

Thanks Wizz... this one is pretty cool. I'm not sure if it would look right but it would display them nicely since I have a lot of bolt guns and most cool identification marks are on the receiver.

This one was made in one evening from scrap wood.

    Forward-facing nails are 18th c repro nails.

Top dentil is held with two plain wood screws, bottom portion is not fastened. I did it that way to make it easily removable for vacuuming the rug & easy quasi-political "sanitizing" when the repairman cometh.
Note feet on bottom to keep it at least 3"-4" off the floor to help prevent prevent moisture exposure.

I bought my wall rack. The four rifle locking wall rack that Cabela's sells is pretty nice.

Looking at the racks on the 7.62x54 forum make me wish for the room and tools to do wood working. Nice stuff!

I saw some really cool plans for a "corner shelf" gun rack, but can't recall where I saw them. I'm sure if you google "corner shelf gun rack" you can probably find some. Great out of the way place to store guns in an upright position.
