This year I promised that we would have more rifle clinics at LRGC, each having more specific focus in it. On March 21st, we will cover the particulars of the Kalashnikov rifle, and its effective use and deployment. The guys in the program all know I'm an avid Kalashnikov shooter, and after the Kalashnikov match in December, we received a lot of requests to put on a clinic with that specific focus. This is an intermediate level clinic intended for shooters 18 years and older who can already demonstrate proficiency with a semi-automatic rifle platform of some type, and have a keen awareness of range safety and muzzle discipline. If you've been an AR shooter for years, but always wondered what that ugly duck you stuck in the back of the safe can do, come on down. The clinic is all on the range, no classroom, and is focused on defensive and competition style shooting elements. Distances will be 5-200 yards, with most shooting inside 100Y. You may still bring a different rifle platform and fire the drills, but focus is on Kalashnikovs the whole day. Topics we will cover include:

Basic Kalashnikov construction, nomenclature, and function
Caliber differences, and advantages of each
    Proper zeroing technique
Things to look for/avoid when contemplating a Kalashnikov purchase
Sling use, carry techniques and deployment
    Short range shooting drills
    Reloading quickly and efficiently
    Effective Transition techniques
The mistake people make most often when trying to Shoot the Kalashnikov Accurately at longer distance
How and what to practice to become proficient
Using all the elements inside the buttstock tool kit
Care and cleaning after firing corrosive ammunition
    Complete Bolt disassembly
    Recommended upgrades

To maximize individual instruction, attendance is strictly limited to 24 shooters. Non LRGC members will be asked to furnish donations in advance, which are refundable for any reason on request up to and including March 7th after which they are forfeit to the club. Anyone from here going to attend this class? I was thinking about making the drive out. But it is a long one for me.

looks fun, and $40 is a steal, but 5+hours from PGH is a deal killer

Wow low round count, low tuition cost, sounds like a great class to take. Too bad I think I have training that weekend. I'd love to get some professional instruction on using my rifle.

    We've got 14 spots left.

I don't believe what most people are doing incorrectly, or need work on with the Kalashnikov needs to be branded onto asses with a huge round count. It's not that kind of instruction.

I do recommend a set of tight tactical style gloves. We'll be doing a LOT of handling drills, and the 'K isn't forgiving re: sharp edges.

My philosophy is that people actually become numb after huge round counts, so we're focusing like a laser beam on the things that really matter.

I personally improve the most when I shoot more often, but use less rounds each range session.

Thanks to the guys on the board here who have supported LRGC, and our efforts in the rifle program.

    Hope to see you there.

    A couple spots left.

We'll see everyone in the clubhouse at 0900 on Saturday morning for signup, safety briefing, and the indoor first parts of the clinic where we'll be:

    1- illustrating bolt disassembly
2 - how to use the items in the toolkit
3 - care after shooting corrosive ammo
4 - potential pitfalls to look for when contemplating a Kalashnikov purchase.

You don't need to bring any equipment into the clubhouse.
