Default Obama's Urban Policy: Gun Owners Will Pay for The Sins of the Inner City

I just threw up a little in my mouth, a little more than when I heard that they were actually considering Chuck Rangel for a Cabinet position.

I mean, the man is a real POS:

But then I read Obama's "Urban Policy."

    Here's an excerpt:

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

    http://www.change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/
In one sentence, they talk about "commonsense measures" that both protect the innocent and respect our 2A rights, the kicker being that anyone who opposes anything in their agenda is obviously not approaching things from a "commonsense" standpoint. But then, in another, they're pushing AWB II, since such weapons obviously, according to their standards, wouldn't constitute anything that would be useful in the "reset button" role that we understand 2A plays in the grander, scarier scheme of things.

Read through it, the whole thing, and make sure to read between the lines: http://www.change.gov/agenda/

We really are in for it.

    Hmmm... "commonsense," and, "OBAMINATION."

    Those are ANTONYMS, aren't they?

Where we defeat these kinds of initiatives is in the House of Reps. "All politics is local".

    +1. what he said.
Obama may want to just do all of these things, but he does not have that power - he needs to go through congress.

I may be making a few trips to picket if these things start to creep up... anyone interested? We could go to DC as a group.
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

Yup. And I'm sure any anti-2A proposal would be met with fierce opposition from the NRA as well. The more voice the NRA has the better, IMHO.

Its so pathetic how they hide that under Urban Policy as if that is the only place it will affect.

We really need to start working on our House representatives now! I just did some quick research and it seems that both Specter and Casey are against gun control, so we should just work to remind them. Specter voted against the extension of the AWB in '04; however, I'm a bit more concerned now that he he's getting older and may not run for another term?! Anyone have more thoughts on these guys?

As others have observed this is so true.

Bill Clinton has said on many occations that he thought the Dems lost congress in part to the backlash against gun-control. I don't think the Dems will risk this again.

Also, the Dems are more big tent than they used to be. They now have strong 2A supporters like Webb of VA and likeminded newcomers from western states. It will be tough but I think we have more than a fighting chance to stop this crap.

It will mean writing checks to some pro 2A groups, so start saving for that now!

Exactly.. Palosi's one mission in life is to never lose a Democratic majority again.. And to keep the new "blue States"

Saying I dislike her is a huge understatement... But in this case it works to our advantage.. If she wants Republican support for anything (and a decent amount of pro 2nd dem from those new districts) this subject is toxic..

First 4 years I think we're good.. now the 2nd four? Get some decent Republican's to run for those seats in 2 years.. And please, let them respect all the amendments

Don't bet your AR on it. If they can get it through they'll do it and quickly too! I most strongly suggest that all 2A supporters start firing off firmly stated letters of opposition to Obama's "Urban Policy" to his change.gov headquarters and while you're at let the incoming members of Congress know your position also.

    Here's a link to a change.gov e-mail app.
