    Default Sand resistant mag... opinions?

So I'm looking to purchase one or two factory mags for my 92FS. I see now Beretta has "sand resistant" mags for a little more money, obviously because our troops are now fighting in the world's largest sandbox. Does anyone have any experience with anything like these? Though I don't plan on fighting in sand anytime soon, I also don't plan on getting mugged, but still carry.

My point is that for a few extra dollars, is it worth having something made for improved performance and reduced friction from sand and other particulates, even if only a slight advantage over the std mag?

Does anyone have experience with things like this? Especially if there are any known issues that a slightly different mag would cause that would even make it less reliable for some reason.

I have 6 of these for my 92FS and they work 100%. Now my regular Beretta mags also work 100%. They are coated with an anti-friction coating that also inhibits rusting and have tolerances better suited to gunk and sand in the mag body. They are a brighter blue/black color than the standard mags. I picked mine up for $20 each back when they first came out, at that time the regular mags were $18.99 so the difference was minor. These days I see they jumped to around $28 or so. I can't really say that they are worth the price difference, but then again, my Beretta has never seen any of the conditions that our troops face over there on a daily basis.

$20?? Where the heck did you find them? I'm looking on the Beretta USA site, and they're asking $31 for the straight 15-rd and $45 for the Sand Resistant. Is there a magazine shortage or what?

    Are yours aftermarket maybe?

You can generally find much better prices anywhere but the manufacturers site.

    Check around.

Mine are all factory mags. As P-11 says, definatly check around and you can almost always do much better than dealing with the factory direct for magazines and such. Not sure if posting links is allowed or not so I fired you PM of some good places to check out.
