Best EDC Knife under $40 and good EDC for Southpaws
Look at EDC Knives a folding. I want EDC with a Speed Assisted and one that is ambidextrous or left hand. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Andrey.

Kershaw leek, very sleek an veryyy sharp out of the box. No belt clip so its both righty lefty as the speed assisted opener/flicker is on the back of the knife, not one of the sides. For EDC i like serrations, some dont. You can get either or.
Also spyderco is great, all their knives rock. They have 1 or 2 around $40-$50. They also are good for both lefty/righty as they have a great one handed opener built into the blade.-=pardon me while I burn and rise above the flames=-

Some of the best bang for the buck knives come from Kershaw, and Spyderco. Plus they both stand behind their products.

I've been enjoying my kershaw! The prices are right and I usually hear good things.

Another vote for Kershaw. I have a blur I picked up from Amazon for around $45-$50.
I have heard a lot of good things about SOG but have no personal experience with them.

Re: Best EDC Knife under $40 and good EDC for Southpaws
My Spyderco Persistence has been the best EDC knife I've owned. Blade steel is very easy to sharpen and holds an edge nicely. It's a good size, very office friendly because it's relatively small and isn't all tactical looking. It's not an assisted opener but you don't need it anyway. One flick with the thumb and it opens at least as fast as any assisted out there.
I got mine at BladeHQ for $42 shipped.

Re: Best EDC Knife under $40 and good EDC for Southpaws
southpaw here, I've had a Kershaw blur for a few years for edc and its very quick to open and feels real good in the hand and it is also made in USA.I sent it through the washer machine a couple times and just a drop of gun oil and good to go. On cyber Monday I found a deal on the sog flah 2 so I picked it up and I think the spring assist is ridiculous it flys open with very minimal effort, way faster than my leverletto. the flash 2 you can put the clip on left or right side and its the same size as the blur. the clip is very low so you cant even see the sog in your pocket.

Re: Best EDC Knife under $40 and good EDC for Southpaws
I'm probably the biggest Spyderco advocate you'll find, so bravo. I just wanted to bring up another point you made.
Do you have a way to sharpen your knives? Do you know how to sharpen your knives? Everyone loves that fresh from the factory hair shaving edge, but what do you do when it goes away? Can you get that edge back?
Important things to think about.
In my very biased opinion you'd don't need assisted opening, it's purely a gimmick and one more component to break.
Like DC2 said above, the Spyderco value line ( Persistence, Tenacious, Ambitious, and Resilience) are FANTASTIC knives for the money, but I'd really recommend spending an extra $10-$15 and going with a Spyderco Delica or Endura. Then you're getting into really, really good cutlery steel on a great price point, excellent ergonomics, and great edge geometry, things you won't find in Kershaws lineup south of $75-$80.
Just my opinion, do your research.
Here's a couple pics to whet your whistle though, green Delica with a Sage 1, another amazing knife.
