    Default Smith and Wesson airweight 37 value?

    Was looking for a new carry revolver and a friend in need of cash has one with heavy carry wear but great bore and timing/ lockup. What would a fair price be? He seems to think $300 but i think that might be a bit much.

    Thoughts?

    More info is needed. What is the make and model of the revolver? How many rounds down the pipe?

    It's a model 37 Smith & Wesson Airweight... Like he said.

    New J Frames run around 400 new for the most part. Subtract $100 off the top for it being used, and another $50 or so to fix the timing. I wouldn't go more than $250, personally. And that's top dollar.

    Assuming it's a blued pre lock gun $250 doesn't sound bad, depending on the extent of the wear.

    Actual age might be an interesting thing to look into as well. They started making them in 1951, and just stopped recently, 2006.

    I will say one thing, especially when it comes to J frames it might be advantageous to have a little honest wear, hopefully it means that trigger is smoothed out for you.

    The new manufacture Airweight triggers suck without a little extra effort on your part.

    He said the timing and lock up were good.

    Still, I'd shoot for $250, unless I really liked the gun, then I might even part with a little more. I'm a sucker for J frames.

    I paid a little less than $250 for this pretty little 38-2 and it was in immaculate condition, but I think that was somebody at the gun counter not knowing what they were doing;

    Some new grips and I made a hell of a little fighting five shot for $219...
