No, it's not necessary anymore, however, some people have recurrent problems related to their tonsils (e.g. sore throats, infections) and that leads to them getting removed.

Good Luck, but depending on what they knock you down with you won't even remember that you are at the hospital and you'll have dreams of being at the range with unlimited amounts of ammo...then when you're done you get to eat lots of ice cream...mmmm...Ice cream...

I had a sore throat for an entire summer when I was 18.. It was the worst ever and had other frequent sore throats. Finally the doctor yanked them out and I've been great ever since. It was a bit painful afterwards, but nothing compared to the pain of the sore throats. Good luck and no need to be nervous it’s kind of fun getting put to sleep

Yep, Rand/dnaR has some connections. You will be just fine.

I remember when I was knocked out for my wisdom teeth I went from the chair, to the car, to the house and I didn't remember doing it. It was kind of fun.

I had that same procedure (and a bit more) done almost exactly a year ago today so I know all about what to expect and how to deal with it when it comes. You'll be fine, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
