Default 30-30 Lever Action and Ballistic Tip

Hello, I have several ballistic tip spitzer Nosler 150 grain bullets. Can I load these up to shoot in my marlin 336 lever action? They have a plastic tip on them but did not intend to fill the tube up with the this bullet. This would be just an in the barrel use only bullet (drop into the barrel).

    First or last shot bullet.

If it is in the pipe, or last in the tube, I would think ok.
Those have harder tips than the Hornaday bullets.

I'm with Fingers on this one. I think you should be fine dropping one into the chamber or using one as the front/only round in the mag tube. For what its worth, the Hornady LeverEvolutions shoot very nicely out of my Marlin 336. I took a really nice doe last year with the LeverEv. The exit wound was quite large.

I am just looking to give these things a try in that gun. The only other gun I can shoot them in is a 300 weatherby.

    Man check this out: http://www.larrywillis.com/caution.html

    That is crazy!

The ogive is much longer than that on a traditional lever action bullet. Make sure you can load them short enough that a loaded round will eject.
