Barney Frank endorses Sestak over Specter in Democratic Senate primary

December 07, 2009
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Congressman Joe Sestak's bid to unseat incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2010 Democratic primary is getting a boost from U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.

The Massachusetts Democrat endorsed Sestak at an event Monday in Philadelphia. Frank says he first got to know Sestak while teaching a class Sestak took at Harvard.

Frank says he's endorsing Sestak in his challenge of Specter partly because he views Specter as "a Democrat by necessity."

Specter switched to the Democratic Party in April, admitting his prospects for winning the Republican nomination were bleak.
Wow... now THERE is an endorsement you really wouldn't want...
