question about carry permit
I am in the process of moving, building my home and establishing my residency in beautiful Tioga. I have already changed my drivers license. I still have a home in Ga and for several reasons I am moving a bit at a time, so I spend time both in Pa and Ga. I have a carry permit from Ga. I plan on visiting the Tioga sheriffs office on my next run to the "homestead" The question is on the Tioga sheriffs website it says that one must have 1 year residency as well as 2 references that live in Tioga county. I have neither my new drivers license is 6 months old and while I have met several great folks I do not know anyone locally to use them as a reference.......I thought that Pa had a uniform set of laws, I also noticed that Tioga does not issue non resident and is not listed as friendly????

Re: question about carry permit
Welcome to the forum and welcome to Tioga county. I am also from Ga and moved here back in 1985. Our sheriff seems to do as he pleases and nobody calls him out on it. If you want to get together and do some shooting or whatever give me a yell. I travel for work so it might take some finangleing of schedules but we can make it work. Anyways welcome!

Re: question about carry permit
Our present sheriff ran as pro 2nd. He is not. Wow, a politician that lied, that's novel.

Re: question about carry permit
I forgot about the one year residency thing. Can you get a PA non-resident for the interim?

Re: question about carry permit
Guess I'm missing it but where is the 1 year residency requirement?

Based on some interesting events from late last year, the 1-year requirement may have been dropped. Note that the above linked requirements shows "UPDATED" though provides no date of updating.

Re: question about carry permit
Call your Real Estate agent. She/he/Caitlyn obviously trusted you enough to sell you a home, they ought to be able to step up and say so. Certainly, their spouse or secretary or coworker would also trust you.
