Default Can A son or daughter

This maybe a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway.

I know a parent can give a son or daughter a gun without going through an FFL dealer. But can the son or daughter give a parent a gun without going through a FFL dealer ?

IANAL and at work I cannot access the law(s).

I believe they use the term between. Thus, it can go in either direction.

    From the UFA:

"(c) Duty of other persons.--Any person who is not a licensed
importer, manufacturer or dealer and who desires to sell or
transfer a firearm to another unlicensed person shall do so only
upon the place of business of a licensed importer, manufacturer,
dealer or county sheriff's office, the latter of whom shall
follow the procedure set forth in this section as if he were the
seller of the firearm. The provisions of this section shall not
apply to transfers between spouses or to transfers between a
parent and child or to transfers between grandparent and
    grandchild
    ".

So I take that to mean my daughter or son could not give me a gun without a FFL to do a transfer

    Your not reading it right...

Tto repeat TaePo's post... transfers "between" parent and child would indicate either direction...

You can give your spouse a gun, she can give you a gun, a parent can give their child a gun, a child can give their parent a gun, a grandparent can give a gun to their grandchild, a grandchild can give a gun to their grandparent all cases aforementioned do not need to go through a FFL (as long as the recipient is legally allowed to own it, if they can't then it can't happen no matter what).

Just wondering...does this apply to step-children, step-parents, step-grandparents also...or just blood relation? I would assume just the blood relatives.

Not sure about that one... I'm thinking "not" - but if there was a legal adoption I couldn't see why not.
