Since when was this theft?
There was once a day when if the local riff-raff kept getting their shit on your yard you could keep it and tell them to f'-off. This story is just stupid and pisses me off. WTF?

Re: Since when was this theft?
If she just left in the yard and refused them ingress (no trespassing), how could she be charged, then?
This way she did not touch the object, did not place it there, did not have intent. She is not obligated to allow someone on her property either.

Re: Since when was this theft?
I have thought about this when the neighbor kids decide to give me dogs new toys. Occasionally I come out and find balls and stuff chewed to peices.
I don't have a problem giving the balls back, I know things happen. I wonder if they could press charges to make me pay for the balls?

She should get the chair. Probably a domestic terrorist. I wish I could have gotten Old Lady Meyers arrested for yelling at us kids all the time.

Sadly I would bet you would never be able to get compensation, but should your dog bite one of them in your yard when they try to get the baseballs or stuffed animals back out of YOUR yard where your dog is confined and you can bet you will be held liable.
On a side note you need to make sure your dog does not eat golf balls. That would turn out badly.

Jackbooted thugs strike again! What scumbags... arresting a little old lady like that! When will cops realise when they do something stupid like this that they make ALL leos look bad?
She was arrested because she was right when she challenged their assessment of situation. When it negligently left their property its as good as discarded. Whats next? Have the kids arrested for littering? It could stick just as well.
Refused a citation? Couldnt they mail it?
She should fight back and have the father charged with harrassment and failure to supervise his kids.
Better yet have the cops charged with something. Oh wait i forgot...thats right they themselves are above the law.Last edited by Archiver; October 31st, 2008 at 12:24 AM.

Re: Since when was this theft?
You obviously missed the rest of the story. This was no ordinary little old lady. She has been under the watchful eye of the feds for years because right after the U.S. started going after the Taliban, she was escorted off a plane and taken to FBI headquarters for interrogation. Apparently she had knitting needles and a skane of yard, and was told someone that during the flight, she was going to knit an Afghan!

Re: Since when was this theft?
Myself, I have to wonder what prompted the lady to keep the ball? We all know how some kids these days are just out of control and mean spirited. This might be a case of antaganism from the kids. With Daddy backing up their errant behavior. I know I've met a few kids I'd like to Taser.
I'm not defending either party, just sayin'......
