Daddy to be....
Well everyone, good news, I found out I'm going to be a father.
My fiance is pregnant with a little one! She is about 9 weeks, and has been craving for pickles. (Of course that is how she got pregnant in the first place)
Now I need some tips, what should I get in preparation? (I'm sure some of you guys are laughing at this question)
Guys and gals please feel free to enlighten me about anything regarding parenting. It is our first.
P.S. Fingers, you have to have some tips for me, your what, 8 months?
Armed, I am free.

Re: Daddy to be....
Try not to argue, but she will want to anyway... so have at it.
Try to take her to her OB appointments, to show you care.
Be prepared for hard core hormone fueled mood swings.
Put tinfoil on the windows to block out the full moons.
Be prepared for her to nest hardcore. This will involve you painting and assembling things.Join the groups protecting your rights from the fools trying to take them from you!

Re: Daddy to be....
congrats, first things first. Have some fun buy a gun, go fishing and have some good dates with the wife to be. Your life will become very hectic after the baby is born, oh yea and money will evaporate.
Defiantly spend some time with the wife to be. That is the most importantat this time.

Re: Daddy to be....
Ensure that you get EVERYTHING out of the dryer promptly. My wife ended up getting so pissed at me toward the end about her pajamas being wrinkled that she started to cry and ended up ironing them. We now laugh about her ironing underwear and socks because that was so out of her normal character.
Think about car seats, diaper bags, clothes for baby, mom, and dad. She will be due in the spring so maybe think about planning something fun for the two of you for after the baby is born. Something simple like going to an outdoor cafe or something.
Go to as many appointments as you can. Take as much time off after the baby gets here as you can. You will regret every minute you didn't take when it is too late.

Option 1: Run.
Of course that's only if you're a douche bag.
Gerkin's?
Get your sleep now... you won't be having any for a while. lol
Plan on changing your lifestyle. Kids like structure and routine and to have dependable parents. Partying, late nights and weekends out become an infrequent luxury. When they get older, try to have family dinners at least a few times a week.
Sit down now and discuss with your fiance your parenting styles. Things like rules, dicipline, education, who's gonna get up with the crying baby. Too many people realize after the kids come that they don't agree on parenting styles.

Re: Daddy to be....
^^^^^^^^^^^This.
I don't like children. I didn't want children and certainly never wanted to be a father of any kind.
And then she got pregnant.
During the pregnancy and after my son was born, I was sort of uninvolved. Leaving my psychology aside, I deeply regret not being more active in my son's first few months of life. It's time I will never get back.
Don't fuck up like I did.
