I recieved a pardon for a minor felony i had about 30 years ago. My question is do I also have to have my record exponged to regain my gun rights?

For the most part, yes. The pardon forgives the act, the expungement wipes it from your record. (although, in reality it is still there, just marked as pardoned)

Get a good lawyer that is familiar with gun laws and has done this before. Sounds like you have a good chance if it is done right.

Actually I can apply for it myself. But do I need to?

You can try and maybe screw it up. Or get a good lawyer and do it right.
What advice are you hearing in your other thread on this subject?

I would say it would probably be best to get a lawyer to write it up for you.
